Planning for a few days, anticipating to challenge the 24" pizza wholly by my boyfriend and I, changed our mind instantly when we saw the real 24" pizza in front of our eyes in the Paisano's Pizza restaurant. Giving it a real thought, we reckon 1-2 slices of that 24"would kill us straight away, which even a take away would take us at least 2 meals to polish the whole 24" pizza. Giving it a real thought, we reckon 1-2 slices of that 24"would kill us straight away, which even a take away would take us at least 2 meals to polish the whole 24" pizza. We ended up calling for a 16" pizza and half a dozen garlic bread.
Talking about the restaurant set up, I reckon it was more a take away restaurant or a half serviced restaurant than a full serviced one. There wasn't any seat arrangement, so you had to wait for your own seats. What's more, you had to request for a table clean up twice before someone showed up to clean your table. There were silver fork and knives but only plastic plates available. Finally for the food pick up, you had to pick it in person at the counter when they called out your number. Anyway, we got our table within 5 minutes since we arrived the restaurant, the wait didn't really bothered me. What bothered me most was the fact that we had to request for a table clean up, was quite absurd. Anyhow you set up tables in your stores and I think the restaurant at least has the responsibility to clean the table up efficiently.
1) Garlic Roll - $35 half a dozen
Back to the food. The garlic roll was the first thing I saw when I arrived the restaurant. The look was so distinct that I couldn't stop myself from asking my boyfriend what that was. Once we gave up on that 24" pizza, we decided to order this garlic roll. AND I had to say, it was the best choice I had ever made - exaggerated. The garlic roll although claimed made to order, which I saw them pre-rolled and nicely stored in the basket, were made to bake. They were freshly baked in mozzarella cheese and were totally covered with Parmesan cheese. The Parmesan cheese sticked to the garlic rolls firmly and the all melted mozzarella cheese gave a great cheese and savory taste to the garlic rolls. The garlic rolls itself despite having a strong garlic taste, were also soft, spongy and crispy at the bottom. This was very nicely done and I highly recommend anyone who is planning to visit this restaurant to try it.
2) The 16" Godfather $160
The 16" looks bigger than the size sample hooked on the wall and looked absolutely mouth-watering. It was a thin crust pizza, with ham, Italian sausages, pepperoni, red onions sauce and mozzarella cheese. The pizza was manually tossed by the chief in the kitchen, it was quite a scene to witness how the chief tossed the 24" pizza crust.
The thin crust was really nice and crispy but was too thin in the middle which it got all soaked up and soft at the tip. However when you flipped over the tip onto the pizza and had a big bite of it, it became heavenly tasty. Since the toppings are usually concentrated at the tip, the two folded pizza gave you a more filling bite than ever. Moreover, the ingredients were very nice and fresh, especially the tomato, tasted exceptionally fresh when served hot. A slight criticism was that the toppings were not well spread, hence making the edge pretty dry and dull when compared to the middle of the pizza.
I would say the food quality Paisano's Pizza provided were amazing, but the service was left to improve. I would definately revisit the restaurant with a brunch more friends in order to challenge the 24" pizza, the biggest pizza in Hong Kong.
