Most dining tables are separated by cute curtains so diners get an awful lot of privacy to spend the evening with old friends or their significant other while waiting for the next course to be served.

There are quite a few menus to choose from—set dinners at roughly $700 or $1000, or à la carte where you may get away spending roughly $400 per head on mains only. Set dinners are essentially an appetizer or three plus mains plus dessert (plus a few other items here and there). Food is prepared to a high standard of quality.

We were looked after by two graceful ladies and as I was feeling terribly ill (that night I ended up in hospital) I was taken care of and being asked how I was doing throughout the meal. It wasn’t just the way the place was decorated that made one feel at home.

There is no pretentiousness at Le Blanc; it’s not a place to be in order to be spotted, and you are almost guaranteed an enjoyable evening that doesn’t come with a hefty price tag.

Two pieces per set dinner. Reasonably fresh.

Compared to what I’ve had elsewhere, the carpaccio here was incredibly thin and the prawn slices were sparsely placed. I suppose it was appropriate as a filler between two courses, but would barely stand up on its own.

Nicely sautéed for a sensual amuse-bouche. Each bite melts and carries a meaty flavor that gets you excited about the next course.

The bisque was very intense with genuine crab meat. I thought this was one of the best I’ve had.

Wonderful wagyu striploin with maximum tenderness and richness. A lean cut, but slightly too thin for my preferences.

Lamb shank is my favorite cut of lamb. This was succulent, versatile and hearty. A pretty large portion and a seriously satisfying main course. N.B. Lamb shank wasn’t on either the set dinner menu or the à la carte—I made a special request and turned out to be lucky.

A delightful end to the meal. Mildly sweet and well balanced with flavors of Jasmine tea.
