It's incredible how this place survives in a city where there is so much choice and good food. It's incredible how this place survives in a city where there is so much choice and good food. Located in a prime spot in Civic Square above Elements shopping mall and Kowloon station Grand Central has every opportunity to be a busy and thriving restaurant. Instead it operates at a very low standard outputting an extremely disappointing meal with a service to match. My wife and i went there for sunday lunch with our 4 year old daughter. We sat upstairs where there was 3 staff and 3 groups of people later to be 2, us and another table of 3 people. The staff managed to keep themselves busy talking to each other and looking in any direction where customers weren't. when our food finally arrived it was cold, all of it, including the coffees. Some of the problem here is plainly obvious as food and drinks sit around on the bar waiting for the staff to take it to the tables. I had ordered the Mussels and i sent them back, they were just too cold. The replacements arrived, i counted 20 mussels of which 7 had not opened. More than 35% inedible.
The staff did apologise but it's all too little and we most definately are not the first to be subject to this poor service. The next table also sent back coffee because it was cold. The manager wasn't there and i did speak to him later on the phone but i doubt i'll ever go back. As i said, Hong Kong has such a wonderful choice of great food it would be crazy to go back here.
