To be honest, I've never thought of Kam's as a Japanese style cafe - rather it always seemed like a HK style cafe to me. Yes the menu does have some Japanese items like ramen and udon, but there are other choices like fish fillet and steak as well. The cafe is located at the edge of the mall along one of its corridors, which can be hard to locate at first. Not much decor - just a simple cafe. There are long lines during lunch time so best to come here before 12:30pm.

The lunch set menu changes regularly as I have been here for a few time on and off, and I've never seen the same menu twice. Lunch set comes with one main dish, coffee or tea, and ice cream at the price of $75 plus 10% service charge.

My choice for today was the Japanese Bowl Rice with Cutlet Pork Chop & Scrambled Egg. The portion was abundant, for beneath all that scrambled egg was one big pork chop cut into strips. The pork cutlet was just okay as the pork was not juicy or tender enough and the outside was not as crispy as those at Saboten. The scrambled eggs were a bit overcooked as some of the eggs had turned into clumps instead of remaining soft. The brown sauce over the scrambled eggs was sweet and gave flavor to the egg and pork. An average dish at best.

The milk tea here was a delightful surprise as it arrived English style with the cream and sugar on the side. The tea cups they used were colorful and elegant so I felt like I was at an afternoon tea place rather than a lunch cafe. The tea was a red tea which was rather fragrant; after adding cream and sugar, the tea was really good to drink as it was soothing and helpful in my digestion after the meal.

Normally, you get ice cream as dessert but as they didn't have any, I got fruits instead. The choices were banana, cantaloupe, and watermelon. I ended up getting the cantaloupe which arrived in small pieces in a black container. Nothing special there.

The food here at Kam's are rather average and homemade. It's not bad or anything but it's not a place I would seek out if I wanted Japanese style food.
