I had no work on Saturday and seeing as I was by myself, I decided to eat here for lunch. The last time I came, I had come for afternoon tea on a weekday. Today, I came and apparently on weekends, they have a brunch menu. Brunch included various items averaging $100 and included a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice and coffee or tea.Even though it was a weekend, it wasn't fully packed but there was a good amount of people. It also wasn't noisy as people talked fairly quietly with a good selection of French music playing in the background. Different than on the weekday I came. I also sat next to a dog which was surprising. I guess they let dogs come inside?
Last time I came, I had a croque monsieur and wasn't too keen on it. This time I decided to choose a galette as this is what most people raved about. I decided on a galette with ham, egg and gruyere cheese along with a latte.
The orange juice was super sweet. Like super sweet. I never had orange juice this sweet. I wonder if they used Valencia oranges? Because it tasted like that type of orange juice.
The latte came also at the same time. I remember the coffee was ok last time. And it was again just as good. Nice and smooth. Not overly milky.
The galette was made to order and it was really good. I would say on par with Le Creperie except this cost less. The buckwheat crepe was soft. There was so much filling it filled the entire galette so every bite I had was filled with ham and cheese. The egg yolk was softly poached. Portion size was healthy. The side of salad was nicely dressed with dressing.
The galettes are truely good. I'm so glad to find delicious and affordable galettes in Hong Kong just as I had them in France. Service was friendly as the owner was there that day and he greeted all who left with a merci beaucoup. I want to say "Ce repas était délicieux, merci beaucoup." I will be back.
