After finishing a major project, my colleague and I decided to have dinner tonight to unwind ourselves. He suggested Fukumaru Hamayaki as it was quite well known in Tsuen Wan area. It was located at Chuen Lung Street, around 8 minutes walk from Tsuen Wan west MTR. They served ala carte menu as well as omakase. Since we wanted to pamper ourselves, we go for omakase. Appetizer platter - It came in 5 side dishes, presented nicely on a plate. Both jellies was of salty taste, soft and smooth. Pumpkin was clear and meaty, prawn was chewy and fresh and garlic was crunchy and flavourful, slightly spicy.
Geoduck was sweet and chewy, yellowtail sashimi has a buttery texture and rich in flavour and shima aji texture is firm and meaty, almost blend in taste.
Scallop sushi was fresh and chewy, juicy as well. Seared toro sushi was extremely oily and fatty in texture, almost melting in my mouth. Aji sushi was meaty and flavourful.
Grilled eel - Eel was very flavourful and the meat was chewy and smooth. Skin was grilled till very soft and crispy, like eating crispy seaweed.
Cooked lobster - It was cooked with gravy, and the gravy was not overly thick in texture. It was sweet and clear. Lobster was chewy and fresh, sweet as well.
Fried eggplant was crunchy and sweet, while fried oyster was meaty and juicy as well. It was fat as well.
Grilled fish - The skin was grilled till very crispy and thin in texture. Meat was sweet and smooth too. Lemon helped to bring out the flavour in it.
Golden crab paste - A slice of bread was provided to go along with it. Crab paste was very flavourful and creamy, meaty as well.
Beef fried rice - Rice was fried till very fragrant and soft, flavourful and tasty. Beef was soft and tender as well.
Melon - It was served icy cool and was very juicy and soft, sweet as well.
