It's been a while since we last had dim sum, and I've heard nothing but good about this restaurant from friends. It just reached 12pm, lunch hour just started, and the restaurant was already filled with groups of families and businessmen ready for some dim sum nom-noms. We were lucky the friendly staff greeted us with a warm smile and walked us to one of the last tables. The dishes arrived one after another, steaming hot and appetizing. The rice roll (叉烧肠粉)was stuffed completely with Chinese BBQ
The rice roll (叉烧肠粉)was stuffed completely with Chinese BBQ pork and the thick pieces were very satisfying for meat lovers like me.
I liked this 'silver needle noodle' (家乡银针粉) for it wasn't swimming in oil like in many other restaurants. The seasoning was not too overwhelming neither, so you can enjoy the natural taste from the fresh vegetables.
The same goes for the fried rice(瑶柱鸡旦炒饭). The chunks of dried scallops took the flavor to a higher level. And for this mini portion you can save the precious tummy space to try more different dim sum.
Next off was the Shao Mai(蟹籽烧卖皇). The thin wrap was stuffed with fresh shrimp pieces and it was cooked just right!
Following was the shrimp dumplings (水晶鲜虾饺). The glutinous wrap was also stuffed with tasty shrimps but this time in a whole. Mine had even 4 whole shrimps inside!!It's almost too indulging for seafood lovers.
Then we had the classic BBQ pork bun (叉烧包). I don't eat buns much for they always make the bun too thick with just a small portion of meat, but I tried at least half of one, and it was not bad at all! The bun was still a bit too thick in my opinion, but it was already thinner than in most of the restaurants I've been to. The sauce kept the filling juicy but not fatty, which is very rare as well.
The goose palm(鲍汁鹅掌)was cooked soft enough so you can still look decent working around the bones. It was seasoned very flavourful with oyster sauce. I almost wish they'd have come with more than one palm per serving. Delicious!
The pork ribs cooked with black vinegar (镇江醋排骨) knocked me off with their distinctive tangy flavor! The taste was quite strong compared to the other dishes, yet it was not too overpowering. You can still taste the unipue pork flavor and it was not too fatty. Just I would prefer they cut the rib into larger pieces, so I wouldn't look too greedy taking one piece after another right away.
A nice dim sum experience can score more points with Chinese desserts. And they had quite a few to choose from. We ordered the silky Tofu Pudding (豆腐花)and the sweet potato soup (蕃薯糖水) . I shared the soup with my friend, and it was, well, a sweet potato mountain. It was very fulfilling and not too sweet. They took out the ginger piece, which is very thoughtful, so I was able to enjoy the pure sweetness without the risk of biting into one of them.
Overall we had a great time here. The staff was attentive and friendly. The dishes arrived quickly but hot, so you can take the time to slowly enjoy while chatting with friends. I really appreciate the fact that they don't put too much oil and seasoning into the food. It's very refreshing to taste the fresh quality and therefore I can only finish with a recommendation. Thanks for having me!
