This Hk style Japanese restaurant is hidden away in the back streets of Yau Ma Tei. From our observation it seems to be mainly local customers that live or work nearby. The cooking is very homestyle and is very healthy. We ordered a chicken steak rice, beef rice and an eel rice. Each meal came with a drink, which we ordered ice lemon tea. The service was friendly and quick. The hygiene of the restaurant was clean.
For the chicken steak rice, the grilled chicken was very crispy. There was a sweet teriyaki sauce that was drizzled over the dish sprinkled with sesame seeds, that really brought out the Japanese style element of this dish. The soft boil egg mixed into the rice brings everything together making the rice sticky like Japanese style rice.
The beef rice was lacking in flavor, but the beef was tender and again was drizzled with sweet teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds and a soft boiled egg to bring the whole dish together. Probably needs a bit more of that sauce!
The eel rice, was probably not a good idea. The eel was too tough.
Best dish is the grilled chicken steak rice. Can’t complain too much cause the price is very reasonable, so if your looking for a cheap quick meal this is the place to go.
