Been wanting to try for a long time, given previous excellent experience at restaurant upstairs. Dinner with the PizzaFans.Comprehensive wine list. Ordered bottles of Chablis and Chianti Classico.Here’s what we had. Here’s what we had.
Bread basket
Burrata with Cherry Tomatoes
Caesar Salad with Roasted Prawns
Stewed Baby Octopus with Potato in Tomato Sauce- hearty and flavorful dish. Octopus was tender.
Formaggi Pizza- with its generous selection of 5 cheeses: Parmesan fondue & chips, provola (soft cheese), buffalo blue (well-balanced blue flavour), Primosale (hard cheese with mild flavor) and smoked buffalo mozzarella.
Picante Pizza- featuring spicy ventricina salami (spicy salami flavoured with chopped red chillies and paprika) and stracciatella (mozzarella curds mixed with heavy cream)- too spicy for me. Afterall, piccante, in Italian, roughly translates to spicy, hot or piquant.
Marcherita Pizza- classic with fresh mozzarella and basil.
Pomodoro (Italian for tomato) Pizza- medley of tomatoes (yellow & red Datterino and dried piennolo) with buffalo mozzarella.
Bolognese Tagliatelle- comforting and satisfying classic.
Mezze Maniche (short, tubular pasta, similar to penne but with a slightly wider opening) with homemade sausage, mushrooms and pecorino, a sharp, salty sheep's milk cheese that added a pungent flavor to the dish.
Sponge cake filled and coated with lemon custard served with Vanilla Gelato. A delight indeed.
Tiramisu.
Hazelnut Gianduia Cake with Nutella Gelato and Royal Liquor. Didn’t like the pastry base- too soft.
In summary: unfortunately did not live up to my expectations. The pizzas (supposedly highlight of the meal) were too soft and flabby. And we were all quite thirsty afterwards. Service was friendly and efficient.
