This is a restaurant that I had been to before. I had never had any problems, and while the food wasn’t very good, it reminded me of Shanghai. However, when I went today I had a truly awful experience. I asked for dumplings but requested them in soup (like the dumplings and noodles in soup on the page before.) However, when I went today I had a truly awful experience. I asked for dumplings but requested them in soup (like the dumplings and noodles in soup on the page before.) The man serving didn’t seem to speak English so I tried explaining to him in Mandarin. I said I didn’t want the noodles, just dumplings in soup. Instead of explaining the menu instead of just pointing out “noodles”, he suddenly got very upset and started yelling at me (in Mandarin), saying I shouldn’t speak Chinese, I know nothing about China, and if I want to speak Chinese I should study first. I was offended by his tone and his words and embarrassed as everyone at the restaurant was looking at us. I was there alone, a girl. After his words about my chinese (which were unprovoked and had nothing to do with his restaurant or food at all) I said I would go somewhere else. He took the liberty of picking up my things to help me leave faster, all the while still yelling at me from behind me.
I was completely shocked as I’ve never been treated like this by anyone in any country, much less as a customer at a restaurant. I don’t know what I did to provoke this or if he was just having a bad day, but I strongly recommend not eating here.
