We went to this restaurant for Father's Day celebration. It was not a good choice (中伏).

First, the restaurant was understaffed. There was only 3 waiters/ waitresses. Five of us were led into a room adjoining the main dining area. The room was barely cool (on a hot summer night!) and the waiter had to turn on a small fan (the size of a basketball) to keep the room ventilated.

After we sat down, we were given the menu, and the waiter vanished. We then "wanted" to order food. Yes, wanted, because it was only after 10 mins that a waiter finally arrived at our table after waving (repeatedly) and asking (again repeatedly) him to come over to help us place the order.

When we finished ordering the food, we asked for some water, and the waiter told us that the restaurant doesn't serve tap water. Well, fine by us, we will just order drinks. But I really feel that was a poor attempt to pretend to be a posh restaurant, especially with that small fan keeping the room ventilated and service being lacking (more on this later).

The seafood platter was served after 15 mins. The oysters, abalone and prawns were nice but the cherry clams were so-so. Afterwards, we waited for another 15 mins and the oyster soup was served. The soup was great. Creamy and rich, with a succulent oyster.

After the soup, we waited for another 20 mins, by that time it was about an hour after we ordered. Then, the first dish- linguine vongole arrived. The clams were fresh but on the whole the dish was too spicy.

The other 4 dishes arrived AFTER the linguine vongole was finished. By that time, we were too hungry even to look at the time (it only makes the waiting worst). When we asked the waitress to follow up with our food, she only hurriedly said she was following it up. And then, afterwards, a waiter came and merely looked at our table and walked away without saying anything.

We were overjoyed when the uni and crabmeat risotto arrived. But it turns out to be a complete disappointment because not only was the uni taste very mild (bordering non-existent, don't be mistaken by the yellowish colour of the sauce which we suspected was pigmented by pumpkin), there was not a shred of crabmeat visible (we even considered asking the waiter if they had forgotten to put in the crabmeat). The whole dish was creamy but tasteless. I would have believed it was vegetarian pumpkin risotto if you so told me.

Then came the cheese pork rack cutlet. It was a good dish. The pork was tender and juicy, and the presentation was nice (finally something worth the price).

The last dish was boston lobster. The lobster meat was sliced and whipped in creamy sauce. I could tell it was a fresh lobster, but with lobster that fresh, it's a waste to slice it and then cover its freshness with cream. But its a matter of personal taste. Generally, it was a so-so dish for 200ish price.

Having waited for so long for the food, and given the quality, we gave up all hope for dessert in the restaurant.

The restaurant was by The Oyster House, but strangely the best dish wasn't even related to seafood.
