The “Feel Good” menu is a healthy 3-course menu that worths less than 500 calories, whereas the “Feel Great” menu features slightly more indulging choices.

I guess ladies will be more likely to go for the former one. Just like me! We are delivered a small platter of sourdough and Brazilian cheese bread.

There is a smear of salted butter and some sauces that come alongside. The cheese bread is a true wonder, warm to touch, crispy on the outside and cheesy and soft on the inside.

Starting with a 3-course “Feel Great” menu and a 2-course “Feel Good” menu, the cheese empanada comes first. This stuffed bread is usually fried but now is baked golden brown, made with puff pastry dough folding over a mixture of cheese and onion. The filling is amazingly cheesy and creamy.

To follow, we have a confit duck leg and a rump steak for our mains. Given the duck leg is bathed in its own fat and slow cooked, it is fall-of-the-bone tender, not fatty, well-browned and crispy skin, with a particularly delicious hoisin and orange glaze.

The rump steak, is a muscular part taken from the lower back of the cattle. We ask to serve medium rare which is grilled like an everyday steak. It is a little gamey, rough but very flavorful as compare to other cuts.

While I am completely seduced by the decent presentation of the mango mousse with coconut tuile, it is however too firm in texture considering it as a mousse that should be fluffy and light.

Fortunately, the eton mess doesn’t disappoint with sweet, crunchy meringues topped with whipped cream and a touch of ordinary mixed berries compote.

After all, Gaucho is surely one of those elegant restaurants I have been in Hong Kong, with nice services and high quality food.
