This was my second visit to Anthony's Ranch. Both times, the food and service were excellent. Anthony's Ranch deserves the 5 stars received from HK Magazine. Nothing fancy here, but if you want "true" American Southwest cuisine this is the place for you.ARRIVAL: Immediately greeted by the owner, who is always around and busy looking after customers. DRINKS: Ultra cold beers on tap (see pics in other review). FREE refills on soft drinks!!!!
APPETIZERS - We have had the CHILI WITH CHEESE, which was full of beef and flavoured with appropriate spices. Not spicy hot, but chilli sauces available. Also had the CHEESE QUESADILLAS, which were served hot with melted cheese. The extras where average. Salsa and guacamole seem to have come pre-made from food company. CHILI FRIES - Again, chili is excellent. Fries fresh and crisp.
MAIN COURSE - BUM STEER SANDWICH - Slices of beef. So good, ordered it a second time. Only HK$80 dollars with fries and two sides. Great value for money!!!! Comes with an excellent BBQ sauce. Beef warm and tender with fresh buns. Again, fries fresh and crisp. Coleslaw okay. CHICKEN SALAD - Fresh lettuce and veggies with a pile of chicken salad in the middle. Not too much mayo in the salad, and again fresh ingredients. A main course in itself.
DESSERT - Too full!!!!
ATMOSPHERE - Great decor for the Southwestern theme. Two TVs. Slightly dark. Note that on the weekends, frequented by families with children.
Overall, the service and quality of the food is a nice change for Western restaurants in HK. We came early, but the restaurant was full on both floors by the time we left. The
owner / mgr clearly takes pride in delivering a great experience. Worth the trip to Sai Kung.
