Both my girlfriend and I read comments listed on the net on this restaurant and went for a try last Saturday (1/14/2012) with excitement; end up getting disappointed big time. Since it was our very first time and am glad that we had only ordered the oyster platter, a mushroom/truffle soup, and three tapas; instead, of set dinners.
Food:
1.Bread – Very sure it was overnight/left over. The kitchen did not even bother to reheat the bread before serving. I picked up one piece and the whole thing just fell apart.
2.Oyster Platter – Special promotion with 2 each of Irish Rock, White Pearl, and a third type of oyster (name forgotten), with two glasses of white wine. The oysters were fresh; but the wine, Pinot Grigio Chardonnay was weak.
3.Mushroom/Truffle soup – Have some mushroom and truffle taste, but soup was diluted. Also very oily for no reason.
4.Asparagus salad – The vegetable was fresh, but only tasted the olive oil, definitely could not taste any balsamic vinegar, as described in the menu.
5.Prawns with cherry tomatoes – The prawns were not fresh. In fact, the meat started to get mushy. Cherry tomatoes were not sliced, and the leaves on top were still intact.
6.Mussels – These were fresh and with few small pieces of bread served on top. The bread tasted very sour if soaked with the juice at the bottom of the bowl.
Services:
1.There was no mention of any specials including the oyster platter promotion. The waitress just put down the plastic card for the oyster platter on the table and walked away.
2.Knives were only served when the tapas came.
3.No bread plate was served.
4.Service people did not even bother to ask whether we want to have any dessert or hot beverage after the meal. Simply cleared the table and walked off.
We are very disappointed with the whole experience, in particular with the service since the price was at fine dinning level. We don’t mind to pay extra if the food was good, but it was not. For sure we did not expect to pay so much for茶餐厅 style service.
Definitely NO return business from us!
