Friend dated for dinner on this weekday. As I haven’t had the western cuisine this week, we chose this fine dining place at Langham Hotel. We are used to have lunch at the light cafe on the ground floor but never try that one in basement. There is a long steps which enriched the style of the restaurant but also scared us to visit. The menu is decorated with a leather strip which is very heavy.
They provided a welcome appetizer with a small sweet melon and salty ham.
Lobster bisque is my favorite soup. The soup provided here is well balanced with every ingredient. Not too much whisky; not too salty; not too thick. The only disadvantages is not hot enough. But it’s common issue in most western restaurant to avoid accidents like burns.
My friend and I (2 persons) ordered this cold seafood tower. That’s right! It’s really like a tower which is full of different tasty seafood.
The lobster is big, sweet and chewy. The lobster meat is so big that you must eat it with knife and fork cutting it into small pieces. There are 8 pieces of oysters which is big, full of the taste of sea water and you can aftertaste the rusty of metals but not as good as those in oyster bar. (Maybe we didn’t choose our favorite ones and it’s not an option. ) The scallops are super big, fresh and sweet. And the Alaska crab legs are very thick and full of crab meat.
After the full set of seafood tower, we are actually quite full. However, how can we not taste the steak in this steak house. As a result, we ordered the smallest portion of steak - Petit mignon. The steak is super soft with strong taste of beef. The gravy sauce is perfectly matched with the mignon.
We have also ordered the sides Mac n’ cheese with porcini mushroom which is more than enough.
Franky speaking, the cheese is rich in taste and the porcini is chewy. However, we are really entirely occupied by the seafood and the steak.
In a nutshell, the atmosphere, the food and the service is super great. As I mentioned before, the restaurant need you to step in the long circular ladder to the main gate. However, my friend has problems with her legs to step up and down. So when we left the restaurant, we asked the waiter (maybe the manager) to see if there is lift or anything instead of the steps. The manger quickly manage us to use the lift for staff. He also say if we need the lift next time, just ask the front desk and they will arrange. What a great and kind action. In addition, another happy thing was that they offer 30% off because of the Openrice booking promotion.
