After watching Hercules with my cousin D in Taikoo Shing, we walked over to have lunch at this place that I saw on TV a while ago. Environment:We were the only people there when we arrived, but as we ate, more people came. I liked the decor of the place, especially those black duster like lights hanging from the ceiling. We were the only people there when we arrived, but as we ate, more people came. I liked the decor of the place, especially those black duster like lights hanging from the ceiling. However, I found this place to be a bit messy looking especially the tables.
Taste & Value:If I see anything on the menu with truffle, I tend to order it, and there was no exception this time as well. For my cousin, he got tuna with his noodles ($88), and he said it was pretty good. A drink is included at lunch time.
For my drink, I ordered their housemade rich soy milk. It wasn't bad, and I liked that it wasn't sweetened.
My Black truffle noodles ($68) were served quite quickly. I thought I ordered "lo mein", but when my noodles came, it was in a broth. I didn't bother changing it though, and ate them anyways. Konjac noodles are very high in fibre, and are very low in calories, so they are quite a health food. This was my first time eating konjac as noodles. With a jelly like texture, I thought they were quite interesting. I didn't mind them at all.
The mushrooms were cooked with black truffles, so they were wonderful tasting, but it got boring to eat. Mushrooms, blanched veggies, and noodles without much flavours, I got sick of what I was eating half way.
Service & Hygiene::The guy who served us was easygoing and nice. He pretty much ran the whole place himself, so even though he got my order wrong, I didn't have the heart to tell him.
While I was there, a customer had to use the washroom, but there was no toilet water, so the guy who worked there had to bring out buckets of water for the toilet. He took care of orders, brought out the food, collected money, so I hope he kept his hands washed throughout the process.
Final Verdict:
I realized today that I really like rich food. I enjoyed the konjac noodles, but the rest was a bit too bland for me and I think the food is a bit overpriced, so I would probably pass next time.
