While my friend and I walked around Soho area searching for place to eat, we saw this restaurant with beautiful blue door and window at Peel Street, so we decided to give it a try.At first the menu was so simple with only a few selections, and we were not sure if wanted to stay. At first the menu was so simple with only a few selections, and we were not sure if wanted to stay. Then the friendly Chef (Ray) introduced the restaurant as “Simple & Causal” dining concept that he selected the menu every day according to the fresh material from the market below the street. Since we were not big eater, he recommended a light menu with the Lobster soup, followed by the Mussel with cream and white wine sauce and then the Italian wild-mushroom sandwich.
The lobster soup was one the best I have not had for a long time, and then the fresh mussels was so juicy and tasty that melt our heart, we decided to have one more order of mussel. The Italian wild mushroom sandwich was very unique which we never had this before. Chef Ray told us he made this new sandwich himself today when he saw the fresh mushroom from the market, and it was just a very simple and health food for light eater.
What we were impressed was by Chef Ray’s warm and dedicated work when he talked to us, and not tried to hard sell expensive food. He said he was not here to make the FINE dinning but the warm heart dinning, and we absolutely loved his friendship and the quiet environment. My friend and I totally agreed the “Simple and Causal” dining experience with “FRESH” food from the market.
By the way, our dinner could not have been perfect without a bottle of their white wine (Obsession) recommended by the bartender. The California Chardonnay was very fruity and just good with our meal.
