My pleasant visit to the Steak House at InterContinental last week reminded me of my favorite restaurant Bostonian @ Langham Hotel. To make a fair comparison between the two great restaurants, let's pay a visit last night.Starter- Ocean Park Oyster ($62 each) - one in Kilpatrick style and the other in Rockerfelle style. I like the Kilpatrick one more though my wife likes the Rockerfelle one better. She rates high on the taste of melting cheese on top of spanish. The Oysters itself were very fre
Starter- Ocean Park Oyster ($62 each) - one in Kilpatrick style and the other in Rockerfelle style. I like the Kilpatrick one more though my wife likes the Rockerfelle one better. She rates high on the taste of melting cheese on top of spanish. The Oysters itself were very fresh. It's worth trying and highly commended.
Soup - Lobster Bisque ($108) - tastes very good. The friendly waiter told us that it is one of the signature dishes from the Chief. My wife and I shared the soup and the portion was just about right. The soup was really good but no surprise. Perhaps it is because my expectation on the soup was a bit too high.
Main Course - I ordered US Angus Striploin (16 oz @ $ 620) (charcoal grill outside burnt and inside medium) - the meat itself is very juicy but the meat taste is not as good as the one at the Steak House. My wife commented that the meat is a bit too lean. This is why it is not as tasty as the one served at the Steak House.
My wife ordered King Prawns with Angel Hair ($360) - the angel hair is al dante and the prawns are huge and fresh. With the tasty lobster sauce and the light portion, it is a good choice for ladies.
We also ordered a side dish ($60) - fried French beans. The taste is great and somehow it is like the fried beans in Taiwanese style. We use to order Sugar Snap but now we find French beans a good alternative choice for some extra vegetables.
Free dessert from the friendly waiter- Chocolate cake with caramel base ($92) - not too sweet but no surprise - not recommended.
Pistachio and olive oil cake with figs ice cream ($92) - cake and ice cream were not tasty - not recommended.
Sorry but thanks for the free dessert. In order to save your calorie quota, I do not recommend to order dessert in here.
As I'm a hotel diner card member, I can enjoy 50% OFF on food order. Therefore the whole bill was only $800 with tips. Overall value to food, I think it is better than The Steak House and more reasonable, especially under today's economic downturn.
Here, I would like to give my special thanks to the friendly waiter Tony. You are the best and keep up the good work. Well done Tony once again.
