How delightful. Admiralty finally has its own simplylife-like bistro in the form of the Petit Cafe. I would've been happy about this new restaurant if I worked at Admiralty! Environment:
Airy and spacious, with a generous amount of light through the glass panes. What I like about the setting is that there are small sections for all types of diners. Ladies who want girl-talk can sit at the squishy armchairs near the back of the restaurant overlooking the interior of PP.
The Cafe is actually an open cafe with no walls to deflect sound waves near the back. So there are also long tables for people who need to use computers to discuss projects. And there's also a long bar table lining the windows up front overlooking the PP vehicle drop-off area next to Upper House for those who want to grab a drink, or just enjoy the lunch breaks alone with a book, or their phones. Food:
$48 - small salad. Fill it up with whatever you want. They'll adjust portion size for each selection according to how many ingredients you want.
The quinoa rice salad was chewy and satisfying - i loved the texture and moistness. The sweet potato had a bit of bite but was still soft enough for my tongue to mash. I liked how it was slightly caramelized. Served cold. Pasta was rather oily but al dente. Could choose either penne or quinoa next time . Mushrooms of course, were delightful, slightly chewy, which is what good mushrooms should be like. I liked how they were seasoned/cooked - flavorful and juicy. Broccoli was slightly undercooked but seasoned with garlic chips...stlil good!Banana Pecan Muffin $17
I had a bit of trouble choosing which muffin I wanted for dessert. Blueberry, apple walnut, banana pecan, and something else. There were also lovely pastries and chocolate-dipped croissants tickling my appetite. Finally decided on banana pecan muffin because...I don't know. There is no reason why I should not come back and try the others some other day It was tasty, with plenty of pecans (no cheating there!) and a pleasant banana aroma. The muffin top was, as usual, my favorite bit. Quite a good bargain at $17. Conclusion:
This cafe only has one competitor offering similar food: the METropolitan Cafe. Each has its merits. MET has grilled chicken, burgers, chips, wraps, painini, and pocket sandwiches. Petit Cafe offers higher-quality salads and also a wider variety of pastries and sweet treats. Petit also has a selection of 2 hot soups (which are wonderful to have on a cold day).
