We have been walking pass this shop for the last 3 years while finding lunch options around Causeway Bay, and finally decided to try it after we didn't want to wait for the queue at another restaurant (lol). We arrived at around 12:30pm and had to wait for a bit (less than 5 minutes) before being seated. The one thing I noticed is the restaurant is busy and doesn't have a clear queuing line and I hope I didn't cut the queue - we just get a place more inside to wait, and the waitress came out and called us because we're the nearest to her.

I want to point this out because it's the usual assumption and I don't want you to repeat my mistake (I only saw the main menu after ordered). If you don't value drink (in lunch "set") that much, then you'd be better off ordering from the main menu. Most people go straight to the lunch set assuming the price difference is not high. For this restaurant though, with hot drink you'll pay about HKD8 extra and if you want cold drink that's about HKD11 extra (compared to main menu price). Honestly I don't think that worth it, but it depends on how you value things.

What we ordered;
We ordered from the lunch set, and my colleague got Beef Tendon with Rice and cold lemon tea at HKD65+3 (if only the dish then HKD57). Well, it comes with a LOT of rice (I'm not kidding you'd be full just eating rice alone) but at the same time this is quite normal practice at cha-chaan-teng. As the name suggests, it's all braised tendon, and comes with a bit of boiled daikon radish.

I ordered Curry crispy pork cutlet with rice and hot lemon tea at HKD68 (if only the dish then HKD57). Again, it is served with a LOT of rice. The pork is thick but I think they can do with a bit less breading. The breading itself is slightly crispy which could be better (but at the same time I have to remind my self that this is only a cha-chaan-teng and not specialized shop). The curry has a bit more spice than usual HK style; it feels kind of like Indian style but not really - maybe somewhere in the middle of the 2 style. It is welcomed though as I like the spices in curry. The complaint on it is I think it's too sweet.

The one thing that I really like about this restaurant is their XO sauce because of 2 reasons; 1) usually XO sauce is served with the dish because they're usually expensive but this restaurant has it on all tables, and 2) with "free" XO sauce you'd imagine it'll be bad quality, thing is it's really not bad. It's probably not very high-end and has plenty of dried scallop etc but it has very crispy seafood (not sure what) and that usually means it's quite fresh. I forgot to take the photo though.

As always, the menus are all below. Enjoy!
