Stockton is the much hyped bar at the corner of Wyndham street. The entrance is not easy to find, just a dark doorway between Wyndhamm 32 and 34. Need to get through the doorway up a flight of stairs and in to a curtained doorway, much in the manner of speakeasies in the prohibition era. The cocktail menu was extensive with a natural emphasis on whiskey. Wine menu was pretty limited. Drinks were a bit on the pricey side but it not totally out of range, came down to around 100-150HKD per cocktail/glass of wine. The apple punch was a favorite among the group. they also had mulled wine as a seasonal option but was given in a tiny glass mug. The gin tonic on the other hand was given in a burgundy wine glass which was pretty interesting.

However the service was appalling. I understand it was start of the peak time for the bar (9pm on a saturday) but the lack of propriety was too much even for uppity bar standards. Our whole group did not arrive on time and everytime a new arrival would sit down, while we were amidst exchanging greetings the waitress would cut in (without an apology) and ask 'What would you like for a drink?'. At one point our friend who had just arrived didn't even have a menu in front of her and was asked the same question by the time she got her scarf off. Not to mention our almost empty glasses of cocktails were whisked away with the speed of an emergency ambulance. And as you can imagine we were reminded that we had to return the table at 11pm by 10:45 and given the bill.

It was a nice vibe and I would have marked it as a good place to get a drink despite the music but the service was horrible, making us feel like we were taking up space where we weren't wanted. I doubt I will be making a repeat visit to Stockton after this experience.
