I am having dinner with my friend tonight and he suggested to meet up at Central. He brought me to Mugung Hanwoo Beef Specialist, a Korean restaurant specialized in grilled beef. It was located at Staunton street, up above the steep slopes. Since there are only 2 of us, we ordered a 2 person dinner set. They do have few choices for dinner set as well as ala carte menu. Since there are only 2 of us, we ordered a 2 person dinner set. They do have few choices for dinner set as well as ala carte menu.
Shortly after we have ordered, the waiter served us 3 side dishes, a norm in Korean restaurant. Kimchi was crunchy and juicy, slightly spicy as well. Beansprouts were juicy and crunchy too.
Seasonal appetizer - The texture was soft and chewy, light in taste. It was a good way to start off.
Chef Hanwoo salad - It was presented in a colourful way. Beef was tender and juicy, and the salad was fresh and crunchy. It was appetizing.
Mini green onion and seafood pancake - Pancake was pan-fried till crispy and chewy, able to taste the ingredients of seafood and green onion in it.
BBQ platter consisted of short rib, rib eye, hanwoo round and some lettuce to go along with the beef.
Rib eye and hanwoo round was very juicy and tender, chewy as well. It was thin in texture, thus it only took few seconds for it to be grilled. It goes well with the lettuce, which was fresh and crunchy. Short ribs came with more fats in it, and was chewy and flavourful.
Hanwoo bone broth with steamed white rice - The portion was considered small, with few slices of beef in it. Soup was smooth and clear, very tasty.
Cold noodles in chilled broth - Noodles were smooth and chewy, icy in taste too. The soup was clear, suitable after having so much meat earlier.
After we have finished our meal, they served us a plate of desserts. Cream puff was soft and creamy, and walnut was chewy and sweet in taste.
