J's Ktichen serves casual western food at affordable prices. I came here with 2 other girls on Friday afternoon. The restaurant was really dark on the inside as the main source of light was coming from the front of the restaurant. There were 7 choices on their set lunch menu ranging from $59 - $78 including a drink. We picked E, F, G to share. 1) Spaghetti with Bacon, Clam, Mushroom & Garlic ($72) - this pasta was pretty dry actually with no sauce left on the spaghetti. There was a generous amount of bacon, clam and mushroom though. Each of the dishes had the same sides - salad and corn.
2) Diced Beef Tenderloin in J's Style Red Wine Sauce with Japanese Rice ($78) - the beef was not tender enough while the red wine sauce was nice. I can actually taste the red wine in the sauce itself.
3) Japanese Style Crab Meat & Crab Spaghetti in Wasabi Sauce ($72) - a very interesting dish! The wasabi sauce on the spaghetti was spicy and sweet at the same time. Each bite of pasta was exciting as I had to fight back tears from my eyes each time. The imitation crab was alright as it was soft and hot.
Overall, the food here is just okay as the flavors are generally not rich or refined enough. As there are other choices for better casual western food around here, I don't see any reason to come back to J's Kitchen.
