My wife and I are very fond of Indian food and we had been wanting to try out Shaffi's for a while. Regrettably, this lunch was the worst Indian meal I have ever had, by some margin. My lunch set included two mini spring rolls and onion bhajis that were stone cold and oozed cooking oil when touched with a fork. My next course, mutton curry, tasted of nothing but pepper, and the pieces of mutton turned out to be pieces of mutton fat and bone. The set lunch includes a drink, and I chose lime s

My next course, mutton curry, tasted of nothing but pepper, and the pieces of mutton turned out to be pieces of mutton fat and bone. The set lunch includes a drink, and I chose lime soda. I like this drink unsweetened, but it was delivered to the table full of sugar.
My wife's a-la-carte curry contained pieces of mutton that, like mine, were still on the bone, although there was hardly any meat to be found amongst the bone fragments and fat. The nan breads she ordered were cold and her banana lassi was thin and tasteless. The saag gobi (creamed spinach and cauliflower) was acceptable, but oily.
We got a glimpse inside the kitchen on our way to the lavatory, and it was a horrific, unsanitary sight. "The Black Hole of Calcutta" would be a fair way to describe it.
Positives? - The service was friendly and quick, but I'm afraid we will NEVER dine at Shaffi's again.
