My friends and I reserved a table well in advance to celebrate a friend's birthday, and the moment we got there it was fairly obvious the waitresses would have preferred to be doing something else other than serving customers. We were seated at a corner where the aircon was blowing full blast into our faces, but a polite request to have the vent turned up only earned us stony looks. We were seated at a corner where the aircon was blowing full blast into our faces, but a polite request to have the vent turned up only earned us stony looks. We figured it wasn't their day and decided not to make a fuss. And so about two or three women were serving us throughout dinner, holding the plates over our heads and expecting us to move the stuff in the tables round to make room for what they were carrying, with nary a please or thank you, and scowling faces. Again, we weren't paying attention to their mood so we let it go.
Until, finally, a friend of mine asked one of the servers who came to take some plates away to leave the fries on the table. She slams it back down, hisses "I KNOW!" at my friend and walks off. That was it for me, I complained to the other server and Ms Hissy Fit comes back, all huffy, along with another waitress spoiling for a fight who said "ACTUALLY SHE'S MY MANAGER!"
Really pissed off at this unprovoked boorish behavior, I told them I didn't want an argument and they should go away and not serve our table at all. Another of friend of ours was saying we should just review the resto on the web, at which point waitress 2 comes back and says, "review us everywhere you want, we're not afraid!"
I have never, in all my years in HK, come upon such rudeness, and such rudeness from a restaurant manager. I must stress we were not demanding customers but they seem to have singled us out for abuse because we were the only full table of non-white folks there. And by the way, they were fawning over all the other tables.
Everyone in that place should be fired. They're not in a Michelin starred restaurant, and the food's not even that good. I don't get where the attitude is coming from.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
