I really love sandwiches. Ideally, there'd be a place for great deli sandwiches around, and with a name like Deli Gator, you'd think that there'd be some of that going on here, but this is more of a hot sandwich place-- not complainin' though. We got a side of coleslaw. It's a little bizarre in that it contained crumbles of bleu cheese, but surprisingly they were not overpowering. The coleslaw was nice and crispy and had a nice mix of vegetables, and was not too mayonaise-y, so on the whole, goo
The sandwich was fairly good. I'm not sure the baguette was quite the best choice for it, and the provalone sauce seemed a little fake-cheesy. Aside from the bread, it's an OK rendition of an authentic Philly cheesesteak, but that's why I wasn't thrilled with it, because authentic cheesesteaks are terrible. My wife got the cuban sandwich. She thought it was good, but doesn't have anything particular to say about it. Yesterday she said she wished there were more fillings and less bread.
They came out of the kitchen after we'd ordered and said they were out of fries, did we mind curly fries? No, I didn't know there was a choice, but curly fries all the way! The fries were nice and crisp and well-seasoned; I didn't even use ketchup. They're probably just Ore-Ida frozen fries, but I don't knock it when it's good.
Altogether we thought the food here was pretty good, and I would definitely come back to try the other things, like the chicken parm.
