My first encounter of gua bao was at Hakata Ippudo where they called it 角包 and I absolutely loved it. I always thought it was Japanese food until Bao Wow opens and found out it was Taiwanese food indeed. Traditional gua bao ($32 per bao, $58 for 2 bao of the same flavour). The bun was super soft and warm, semi-sweet taste. Sandwiched between the bun was a piece of very tender pork belly, some pickled chinese veggies and cilantro (which I omitted), and garnished with peanuts. I was pleasantly surprised that the pickled chinese veggies didn't taste sour and went very well with the pork belly. One thing to note was the amount of fat in the pork belly, if you are a health-conscious person I would suggest to try terriyaki tofu flavour instead.

kimchee n cheese fries

Being a junk food lover that I am, my meal would not be completed without fries! But sad enough their kimchee cheese fries fall short of my expectation. The fries were too dry. On the upside though, there was copious amount of kimchee meat sauce n cheese on top. Kimchee flavour was there but not prominent.
Would I return? Yes for the gua bao but not the other stuff.
