Today, we went to a well-known dessert shop, which can be found everywhere in Hong Kong. It is called Hui Lau Shan Healthy Dessert. In the shop, we can see a lot of yellow stuff. We can see all kinds of desserts made of mangoes. Almost 90% of the dessert in this store contain of mangoes. If you love mangoes, this store would be perfect for you to try. We try four desserts this time and you can select a meal with snacks if you want. The first one we tried is called Mango and Coconut juice with Al
The second dessert is called Mixed Fruit Combo with Flat Rice Noodle. At first, I think it is quite weird to see noodles in desserts, that is the reason I want to try it. We also add $5 to get additional rice balls with the dessert. The fruits are served in another container, however they are not cold enough and this reduce the freshness. The rice noodles and the optional rice balls are mixed with a lot of mango juice. I feel very curious about the noodles, so I try them immediately. Surprisingly, they are made of coconut juice. The coconut savour is not too heavy, the noodles taste better when we mix them with the mango juice. However the rice balls are lack of flavour, but they are very chewy.
Another dessert is called Sago with Pomelos and Mangos. This one is ordered by my friend. She also ordered turnip cakes with the dessert. The outlook of the dessert is very nice, half of it is the yellow mango juice and half of it is the coconut juice with sago, they are also a mango sorbet and some pomelos on top of it. Carmen said the dessert is very normal and it tastes not much different with other desserts similar in other shops. It just has a different appearance and a sobert on it. However the turnip cakes taste very good. It has a deep turnip flavour but the cakes are a little bit loose.
The last one is called Mango Combo. It is the signature dessert of the shop. The dessert is very colourful. It contains a lot of fruits like, watermelons, melons, kiwis and a strawberry. It also has a lot of mango sorbets and something called “sea coconut”. I found that is Coco de Mer when I do some research. According to my friends, Chinese people likes using sea coconut to boil soups, they said it is good for treating cough. The fruits are very fresh and the mango sorbets are very cold, so be careful for your first bite! The sea coconut tastes nothing but the texture is very interesting, just like eating a no flavour jelly. It would be a COOL dessert for summer.
