近排有啲心情唔好, 但又有啲热汽未清. 又觉得自己肥(Doesn't look too apparent, but I can feel it!), 做啲咩氹吓同鼓励自己好? Chocolate shops obviously aren't the 1st choice, when the throat has just recovered and fitness remains an unresolved matter, also I'm not a die-hard fan of La Maison's chocolates as its too sugary and lacking layering in its chocolates for my personal preferences. Chocolate shops obviously aren't the 1st choice, when the throat has just recovered and fitness remains an unresolved matter, also I'm not a die-hard fan of La Maison's chocolates as its too sugary and lacking layering in its chocolates for my personal preferences. Its almost too Americanised somehow.

Despite having that thought crossing my mind, I've heard this new outlet now has a sit-in option just as the revised Debauve and Gallais store does. Here, they serve Nespresso Pod coffees, Teas, imported ice-creams and sorbet as well as 2 dark chocolate drink options with 1 lighter than the other and virtually the same as 2 of their dark solid chocolates on sale. These imported goods aren't available in other La Maison outlets as well as the upcoming new IFC shop. This appeal alone got me coming on the weekend in no time together with my mother before dinner, who'd just arrived back in the city.

Upon arrival, I was greeted in English by 2 lovely sales and I actually felt relieved to be informed that both hot chocolate drink reserves have been depleted, so that leaves me with an option of ice cream only in this intentional trip with intentional goals, without putting further strain on my throat yet still making myself happy lol.


Selecting from the sorbets/ice creams reminded me of the new McDonald's TV Ad in which the guy relies on a flip-of-the-coin to decide his final choice. Perhaps a new phenomenon brought about by Laughing Gor's influence haha.
Will I have the Framboise or the Chocolate with Tonka Bean or Vanilla? After much deliberation, ended up somehow with the CHOCOLAT AU SEL DE GUÉRANDE as I like salted caramel sweets and succumbed to the irrefutable attraction of having one of the so-called top 3 salts in the world in my ice cream.

The ice-cream was $56 from memory. It was barely salty with only 0.1% salt content but one could taste a bit of savouriness from its presence. I was told this would draw out the underlying flavour of the buttery caramel's characters - and it certainly performed as told. This wasn't the best salted caramel ice-cream I've had but its definitely up there. I just thought it had too much buttery and skim milk rather than a profound caramelly taste despite it being very 'thick' when melted. The texture however was amazingly smooth, it literally glides like molten lava.

Was also given a free tasting piece of dark chocolate coating with dark chocolate ganache and mint tea flavour. I understand that La Maison takes months/years to trial and improve each individual chocolate's taste before its released to the mass market. However just as my previous experience with this brand of chocolate and their macarons (spelt Macarons in this shop, Macaroons in other outlets. Strange) proved too cloying, I still found this dark chocolate a bit single dimensioned, even though the mint tea portion contribution made it interesting but not as good as Debailleul's but better than Jean Paul Hevin's.

I was told to to try their chocolate blocks next time instead, which all have funny unrecognisable names... Hopefully, that'll give me confidence again in parts of their reputable chocolate selections! For now, I await to try their hot chocolate drinks as well as coming back to eat the fantastic ice-creams!

Overly Sweet Chocolates/Truffles/Macarons/Cakes in general, personally = high '3' to very low '4'
