Honbo has been ranked as one of the World’s Best Burgers on Bloomberg and so I decided to give it a try and see what's the big deal!Since the Wan Chai shop is pretty small and have limited seats, my friend and I expected a long line up. However, we were quickly seated when we arrived the restaurant at 6:40 pm on a weekday and I was quite surprised to find that the restaurant was so empty. My friend and I ordered the classic Honbo and Honbo 1.0. The only difference between the two burgers were the size of the beef petty. Both of the burgers had the same stuffing including cheese, pickles, onion and house sauce. I have heard that the patties were made with double gold American beef and they were so juicy and freshly grilled, I could tell that it was high quality beef. The house sauce went great with the burger and I could taste the butter on the milk bun. I had to tell myself to slow down so I can fully enjoy the Honbo. Although the Honbo itself tasted great, was it really worth $1xx for a burger and the service? One thing worth mentioning was that I saw there were at least two chefs did not wear mask in the kitchen, I immediately felt uncomfortable due to the current covid situation. I thought it was just basic personally hygiene measure especially when they were the people that handle food.
Overall, the burger tasted amazing and I enjoyed it very much. However, I can honestly say that there are similar burgers out there with much better deal.
