We went on a normal day, after the busy lunch period so it was relatively quiet. It was nice to hear people greeting me as we walked in.

Turns out that they have lunch specials which consists of a lot of choices; from the unagi donburi to the tonkatsu ramen and gyouza lunch sets. I didn't order from the lunch sets but instead I ordered the shio ramen and karaage set. My aunt ordered the tonkatsu ramen and gyouza set. After placing the order, they arrived rather quickly which is something pretty standard in HK.
The overall presentation of the food was very good and the ramen and karaage were piping hot.
The karaage was surprisingly nice. I half expected the karaage to be quite dry but after biting into it, I noticed that it was quite juicy. The downside to the karaage was the size of them. In Japan, the karaage is quite big and the outer coat is really crunchy but the karaage here are only bite size. This could be because they needed to cater to the taste of people here.

The star of this show, the ramen, was also quite good. The shio soup was good, it wasn't too salty except I didn't expect the soup to have such a dark colour, shio soup bases are normally are a much lighter colour. The ramen was cooked to the right amount, it was neither too soft or undercooked and has just the right amount of elasticity. The only thing I didn't like about the ramen was how they cut it so when I picked up the noodles with chopsticks
, it was little pieces of noodles rather than long strands of noodles. Perhaps again to cater to the people here.
The ramen had a lot of side dishes in it, corn, beansprouts, mensu, and wakame and the chashuu. Speaking of the chashuu, I found it to be a bit too salty and too thick. I would prefer to be thinner slices so they would be more tender. The actual Japanese ramen uses really thin chashuu pieces so I wasn't use to seeing such thick pieces of meat in the ramen.

The surroundings of the restaurant was pretty good except, given that they are a Japanese restaurant, shouldn't they be playing Japanese music rather than Korean music - wouldn't that be more appropriate?
Perhaps because the restaurant had just opened, the walls are bare and it would be nicer if there were some sort of decorations on the wall, just to brighten it up.

The service was also really good. Quick to refill my cup of tea.
