Originally North Point is pretty famous for Chiu Chow cuisine and the hype is now spread to Tin Hau area. This Chiu Chow shop specialises in marinated meat and only take away service is available because the small shop has no seats for customers to dine in. As the 2nd branch of the restaurant, you can see that a lot of celebrities have already visited the place. Apart from some marinated goodness, some selections of meat balls can also be found for you to enjoy your hot pot in this cold weather.
I have chosen marinated thinly sliced goose as well as ginger chicken 沙姜鸡. This whole big box is filled wth beautifully sliced and presented meat and you can see that the goose has been evenly sliced into thin pieces. The box also comes with some pickled mustard greens on the side for you to go down with a whole plate of meat, while a pile of marinated big peanuts and tofu pieces are at the bottom as well! The goose is not fatty at all as you can see that they are mostly lean meat with just a trace amount of fatty skin on top of each piece. Though it is very lean, the meat remained tender and easy to tear. Each bite is filled with a mix of Chinese spices flavour. It is also not too savoury which I like a lot. The peanuts are really big in size and softened after being soaked in the sauce. It's almost like powdery in texture which is what I expected in Chiu Chow food. The chicken pieces are also very very lean but meat is very musculine yet still tender. We were told that only fresh chickens are used in the restaurant. Some thick cut pieces of silky soft tofu is at the bottom with the marinate. Absolutely delicious yet still light. With our items, we were given 3 different sauces, the marinate sauce, white vinegar, and the ginger paste sauce for the steamed chicken pieces. For $148, it can probably feed 3-4 people so I think it's a good deal when comparing to other Chiu Chow shops in the neighbourhood. Make sure you come early otherwise you may have to queue in line.
