Sen-Ryo can get really busy around mealtime, but their app (require membership) and their queue system allow you to run some errands in the mall while waiting for a table (they will call you when there is 10 seats to your table) so you don’t feel like you are wasting too much time in line. Sen-Ryo is the level up from Genki Sushi, but the jump in price is not too drastic, and it is well worth the extra dollars spent. The atmosphere is chilled with jazzy music and attentive staff, yet not so form
You can find their Main Menu and Takeaway menu online, but they also have a changing specials menu that have some great deals and flavours.
On our visit last Sunday we tried their “Thin Cut Mikan Tai Sashimi w Yuzu Glaze” for the first time. It was a pretty powerful glaze but it was nicely put together, and we loved the salad. I am still learning to appreciate sushi so I prefer thin cuts, and the fish was very light, which I liked. The price was very agreeable at $88, and perfect to share as I don’t think I could’ve finished it alone. I also had a “Snow Crab and Avocado Hand Roll” ($26) that will help me fill up as it contains a lot of rice. Btw, I really like the rice here. We also had both salmon sashimi ($42) and sushi ($16 –two pieces). I prefer the normal to the prime salmon ($20 – two pieces), as the latter often gets a little too fatty for me, but I can absolutely do it with enough wasabi. The same goes for the tuna in my case, which comes in semi-fatty ($36 – one piece), prime fatty tuna ($42 – one piece), supreme fatty tuna ($55 – one piece), and tuna joint ($60 – one piece), but my dinner companion loves it so here is a picture of that too: semi-fatty tuna. Not pictured is the “Seared Olive Flounder Muscle” ($36 – two pieces) which just melted in my mouth. A new favourite – that is why there is no picture, they disappeared too quickly! “Sea Urchin Gunkan” ($55 – two pieces) which always taste amazing, but isn’t always suitable for photography. On Sunday they actually looked beautiful, but I was so hungry I forgot to take picture. We also had the green soybean ($16) which I am addicted to and “Plum and Sisho Leaves Roll” ($16 – six pieces) which we love because of the tasty sisho leaves! So refreshing!
If I am in the mood for something sweet I will get the homemade egg ($12- two pieces). I know it is not a dessert, but it works for me. I also really like their fried prawn roll ($26) but was not in the mood for fried food yesterday so I will have it next time instead.
All in all it was another very successful visit to Sen-Ryo. Will return soon!
