TLDR; Poor service, lots of waiting, unexplainably expensive food that is not worth any pennyI really love all day breakfasts and any kind of waffle/breakfast food innovations, so when I saw this on eatigo, I knew I really wanted to try it. In fact, the 1st time I booked this place, I travelled all the way there, a 1h15 min journey, only to find out IT WASN'T OPEN. I really love all day breakfasts and any kind of waffle/breakfast food innovations, so when I saw this on eatigo, I knew I really wanted to try it. In fact, the 1st time I booked this place, I travelled all the way there, a 1h15 min journey, only to find out IT WASN'T OPEN. I was shocked and frankly quite angry - if you know you're not going to open your restaurant, then it is your responsibility to stop all further bookings on those days. You can't keep your eatigo page up and running when you're not even in business that's ridiculous. It is not my responsibility to call every eatigo restaurant I go to to confirm that the store is even open.
But that aside, I was still determined to try this place. I booked it for a second time on a different day for 7:30pm, which isn't exactly an early dinner. However, to my surprise, when I arrived at 7:15, the shop owner was just starting to open the store, even though it clearly says on multiple platforms (eatigo, open rice etc) that this store would be open 4pm on weekdays. I can't imagine if I had an earlier booking or if I were a walk-in customer to come all the way here, only to find out that it's not damn open yet again.
So I took a stroll around the neighbouring block before coming back again at 7:30 for my actual reservation and dinner. This time, the shop owner was nowhere to be seen, and there was just a woman (who I presume isn't even the chef) inside. I don't think she was even a staff, for she wasn't even allowed to take orders??? So she just told us to pick a seat, and it wasn't until 5 minutes later, when we actively asked for the menu, she finally gave it to us. And then she tells us she can't take orders and she has to wait for the 'boss'/storeowner to come back, but since she doesn't have his number, we'd just have to wait to see when he'd be back.
So not only did she not know where he went, she didn't have any way to contact him, she was unable to take food orders. So essentially we waited over 20 minutes for this 'owner' to finally show up before we could even ORDER food. At this point we were already starving and quite annoyed but we ordered and patiently waited another 30 minutes for our food anyway.
The food comes, and the chicken waffle burger is nothing like expected. The waffle was cold, and clearly not fresh; the chicken was freshly fried, but was so bland and tasteless, and didn't even have a proper crunch to it. The scrambled eggs were absolute trash - I've never had eggs in a restaurant so badly made - it was clearly overcooked, and it was more like a bad fried egg that had gone cold (it wasn't even warm/hot). Then as if it couldn't get worse, the were no tomatoes and instead in its place just a few pieces of raw lettuce. I asked the owner 'isn't it meant to be tomatoes' and he said 'sorry we ran out'. Running out of tomatoes isn't a problem, but excuse me, perhaps you should've told me that earlier BEFORE you took my order? I was looking forward to some fresh tomatoes to balance out the fried chicken and now obviously I can't because you didn't tell me earlier. Perhaps I'd have changed my order if he had told me.
The chicken udon was originally priced at $60, which is ridiculously overpriced for what it was. It's literally grilled chicken (again, bland and tasteless) and a tiny bowl of udon, both of which were barely filling. We would never order this ever again.
Initially, we were going to have dessert here as well since it looked appetising on the menu, but after that awful experience, we knew it would be best not to or else we'd have to wait another god-knows-how-long for some cold and not fresh food. We tried to get the bill, and guess what? The owner was gone AGAIN!!! Now the lady 'staff' had asked the owner for his number during the course of our meal, but when she tried to call the number he gave her, it was a fake number and didn't work. Maybe it was just a mistake that he wrote his number wrong (on pen and paper btw we watched him write it), but why on earth would you give a fake number to your staff????
So we waited yet again for him to come back before we could pay (which is absolutely ridiculous given the amount of waiting we've already done in this place), and after 5 mins, the owner still didn't show up, and so I think the lady felt bad and said we can just pay in cash. Now ofcourse, she didn't know we had booked via eatigo, which should give us a 50% discount, and so she was quite flustered when we showered her our booking and she didn't know what to do. Somehow she managed to call a friend (?) of the owner and was told she can just charge us 50% of the original price as mentioned on the eatigo description. But she didn't have the keys to the cash box, so we had to pay exact and honestly, it's quite tedious having to just wait for this 'owner' that never comes back to do everything.
If you want to take charge or everything, then by all means go for it, but you have to at least be present in the store. Probably one of the worst experiences we've had at a restaurant, and I would never come here again. I can not fathom paying full price, a whopping $95 for that chicken waffle burger. Heck, even with a 50% off, I still thought I paid too much for that stupid burger.
$95
