屋子空间 (English name: Uchi Coffee) is a place I always wanted to try out but as I live pretty far from Tai Wai, I really didn't get a chance to. But as it was a sunny Sunday, boyfriend spent it walking about Tai Wai and stopped here to rest our feet. This place serves up Japanese style dishes and desserts. Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge. You order and pay downstairs where they will give you a pager to let you know when to pick up your food.
Boyfriend and I shared a Hojicha Hibiscus Poffertjes ($58). Poffertjes are Dutch mini pancakes. So, what we got was a bowl of little mini fluffy pancakes. It came with a red tea ice cream, Hojicha powder and a saltine cracker. The cracker felt bit lazy but aside from that, these were really good. The pancakes had slight tea flavor. The ice cream was light in taste but it went well with the warm pancakes.
The pancakes were lovely. The only thing I wasn't too keen on was the use of disposable eating utensils. Didn't seem too environmentally friendly even though they didn't use plastic. But it's still not reused. Other than that, I can see what the hype was all about. It is worth it to go all the way to Tai Wai for this.
