Four Seasons Hotel's had a private party called Pop-down and created a Chinese bakery. Boyfriend and I happened upon it one evening while walking leaving Central. I was curious and found that they would be giving away 700 boxes of Chinese pastries made by Lung King Heen on April 1 and 2. That day, boyfriend was in the area and grabbed me a box.The box was pretty nicely designed. It was drawn by local artist Don Mak. Inside were two pastries: pineapple pork bun (on the left) and baked cream custard puffs (on the right). I reheated it in the oven for a minute to make it taste better. It smelled fantastic as I took it out of the oven.
The pineapple pork bun was lovely. The BBQ pork was sweet and savory. Interestingly, they had pine nuts found in it. The bun was buttery and flaky. The crust was sweet and didn't fall apart.
The baked custard puff was wonderful. The pastry was buttery. The custard was soft and creamy. Not too sweet but oh so smooth in texture.
Just a lovely box of pastries. Carefully crafted as well. A great treat from the Four Seasons Hotel.
