There was a new restaurant that peaked my interest while exploring Tai Hang one day. Called 両草 (no English name) it serves Malaysian food such as bak kut teh and kaya toast. There was quite a number of people waiting for a table as it's not very big. Seating is very cramped inside as well. But it's one of those places where you eat fast and get out fast.Menu is in English and Chinese. There is no 10% service charge. You order by checking off the paper menu.I ordered an ice Malay milk coffee ($22

I ordered an ice Malay milk coffee ($22). This was quite possibly the worst Malay milk coffee I've ever had. I just tasted like burnt water.

Boyfriend ordered the pork patty with fried egg with rice ($30). I seemed not many people ordered the bak kut teh. Unsure it's due to the warm weather but followed everyone and ordered rice. This was delicious! The pork patty was soft and tender. The egg was fried and had a lovely runny yolk.

I had the BBQ pork in scrambled egg with rice ($30). I had this. It wasn't as exciting as boyfriend's. The char siu wasok. Not flavored enough. The egg was ok. Not as runny as I would have liked.  A bit of sweet soy sauce was needed at that moment.

We shared a pandan kaya toast ($20). This was ok. Not great. The kaya toast wasn't very sweet but it didn't have the wonderful coconut taste that is signature of kaya.  I felt Semua Semua Malaysia in Sham Shui Po is loads better.

We also shared a fried fish cake ($20). This was basically a patty made from dace fish meat. It was a bit oily but I detected no small bones. Pretty impressive they dug out all the bones as most times dace meat has tiny yet edible bones.

The food was ok.  The rice with pork patty and egg was the thing to order. Everything else was a bit average or I've had better elsewhere. Price was very inexpensive. Portion size was ok for me but for a big eater like boyfriend, he was still a bit hungry. I'd be back but only for the pork patty and egg with rice.
