Always wanted to give this place a try after hearing many people rave about their pan-fried buns. I have walked by the Tin Hau Shop several times but usually there is a long line waiting for their buns. However, today I had my mind set and wanted to give this famous place a try. There wasn’t as many people as I thought there was today and the line was quite short so I ordered 6 signature pan-fried buns with 2 being the truffle flavours. It came out to be a total of HKD60, not bad I thought. The

The buns were already frying in their 2 large pans near the window. It’s definitely a scene to watch, seeing so many buns being fried all at once. Apparently they also serve soup wontons and noodles. But the spring onion oil noodle was sold out already when I was there. Will have to give that a try next time.
When I got the buns it was steaming hot, I opted to eat inside the place rather than having it takeaway. I think that’s the best way to eat them, while they are still piping hot. The place is quite small with only one area to stand and eat the buns. They have chilli sauce and vinegar available at the bar tables for customer to use.

The pan-fried buns had lots of soup inside them and the base of the buns were very crispy. The meat inside was big and not small like other places. The truffle bun was also quite nice, once you bite the top open and reveal the meat. You will get an intense truffle aroma, definitely worth a try. It is a must for truffle lovers!
