Chicken Pie
This is the kind of chicken pie that I like. It's buttery from the pastry but not too crumbly, and the filling is the highlight because it has a lot of chicken meat in it and they didn't use a heavy kind of white sauce. You also won't find a lot of fake ham nor chicken skin as you may find them in some other traditional bakeries in Hong Kong.
I would even describe the taste of their chicken pie as "Clean" because it's straight up flavourful savoury chicken meat. Solid on the inside, complimented nicely with the golden brown perfectly baked buttery cookies shell on the outside.
BBQ Pork PuffAs it is called puff, you can tell that these BBQ Pork pastry uses different kind of pastry that is called puff pastry. It's a lot of flaky and it is lighter and airier than the battery chicken pie previously. The size of it is also a lot bigger which makes consumers feel like it is a better deal when comparing to other baking goods on the shelves.
No cheating from this big F&B group, the puff is packed with sweet and savoury smokey BBQ pork pieces in the middle, though the pastry gets soften pretty quickly after it absorbs the moisture from the bag, the flavours remain. The toasted sesame seeds on the top also gives a nice nutty flavour when you get to the middle part of the pastry.
I am impressed with this experience and I hope to try other baking goods from this shop. You should also keep an eye out for those Maxim's with hot oven because they are pretty worth the price in my point of view. When compared to many other pricey bakeries, this is a much better alternative. So, F&B giants are not necessary bad, I do appreciate Maxim's as they continuously try to be better and better on their food quality though there are still lots of room for improvements.
