我杯茶 (English name: My Cup of Tea) is place that received a bit of hype on social media. Located in Wanchai, a small take away only place with a small amount of seating, the owner won the 2010 Milk Tea Championship. Of course, we ordered the milk tea ($16). I mean .. what else do you order? And here it is. The award winning brew. Taste? Smooth. I detected no gritty after effect after drinking it like some places I try. But oddly lacked tea flavor. The tea base wasn't fragrant. It was disappointing. Someone suggested I should have adjusted things to my own liking, but to me? When I'm at a place that suggests this is their signature item, I do not change anything. I trust their combinations is correct. And that same someone suggested I should just drink yin yang if I wanted something stronger. But I didn't want something stronger. The tea base wasn't fragrant. It wasn't weak. It was not fragrant. So, yeah ... disappointing tea. Boyfriend had the same feelings. He said it tasted like the same milk tea from Fairwood which isn't a bad cup of tea. Just not amazing.
We shared a satay beef and egg sandwich ($25). We added $2 to toast it up. I like this more than the tea. The toast was toasted nicely. The egg was soft and fluffy. The beef was moist but the amount so stingy. They drizzled it with a nice satay sauce. Though I liked it, boyfriend was disgusted by how they only added sauce on top of the beef. The beef was not marinated with the sauce. I do agree on that part. But I was still happy with it.
Probably just be back for the sandwich. Skip on the drink. I agree with boyfriend. If I wanted a cup of tea that tasted like Fairwood's, I'll go to Fairwood. At least it's cheaper.
