Upon walking through the doors, you’re met with a display of their desserts, which are neatly stacked together in bite-sized rows. After being seated, you are presented with two binders of entrees, drinks, and desserts that are to have their pages ripped out and filled accordingly. Despite being an all you can eat, it is not buffet style to prevent waste and staleness of the selection.

Speaking of selection, Daikiya boasts a widespan coverage amongst several preparation methods, as mentioned above. However, the choices within each preparation category are limited, as to preserve the consistency and quality of their offerings. That means even though you won’t see arrays of typical nigari and sashimi staples, they instead offer an arrangement of specialty items you can choose, ranging from foie topped scallops to truffled shrimp nigari and my personal recommendation, the Uni Hand Rolls.

It’s difficult to put my finger on every offering they had but I can attest to the fact that any fish sashimi is remarkably fresh, lacking the typical briny
aftertaste I’ve come to expect from typical sashimi. The sushi had some unconventional combinations, but my personal favorite was the Salmon Flower Roll, which consisted of salmon wrapped around a bed of rice topped with crab roe, laced together with Japanese mayonnaise. Apart from the nigiri selection, there was also a separate page for rolls. The variety included combinations of regular sushi with shallots, sesame, fruit, avocado, and even thousand island sauce.

Apart om the raw section, the fried section surprisingly stood out to me, as I normally don’t enjoy what I consider “buffet filler” cuisine. My definite
recommendation in this section is the fried oyster, also known as kaki-fry.  They come out steaming hot, and the breading is surprisingly light in
comparison with the tempura offerings. It’s served with a side of tonkatsu sauce, which also pairs well with the dish.

Finally, we managed to have a taste of nearly all the desserts. The wait staff includes an extra page of ice cream selection ranging from Haagen Daz to Movenpick. Along with that were and assortment of light, bite-sized cakes which were perfect for the occasion given how stuffed I was. The mochi was soft and had no sign of being frozen beforehand, but I personally preferred the Green Tea Red Bean Mousse, for its fantastic texture and lack of heavy dairy. Bread pudding, tiramisu, and cream puffs are also available choices.
