Date dined : 26th June 2010 Food: 2 Unagi sushi, 2 flying fish roe sushi, 3 piece bean curd sushi with salad inside, 2 piece of Salmon sushi, one fried eel rice and 3 piece of BIG crunchy salmon roll!!! Taste: Salmon sushi: Was real fresh. Flying fish roe sushi: It was very well made, some resturant has too much salmon roe it spills everywhere. But here, the amount is JUST right. Seaweeds is crispy still not soggy at all
Bean curd sushi: I love this sushi! The usual bean curd sushi is the rice wrapped inside the bean curd, but this one, it has rice inside topped with cucumber and carrot salad, it is delicious. best eaten with lots of wasabi as the mayonnaise matches the wasabi
Unagi sushi: I love my eels. And not everywhere do good juicy unagi sushi. Again, they do extra long sushi. The rice is same size (bigger than other restaurant) but the fish is so long. Thy do good unagi here, it is veri fat, thick, juicy, and with lots of unagi sauce on top. cant beat it!
Big salmon Crunchy roll: This is the best sushi roll I have ever eaten, and it has been my fave for last 5 years! I order it EVERY time I come here, and it is probably the reason why I come here, just for this roll. And i do recommend this roll to everyone I bring here. It is massive. With rice wrapping a seaweed which wraps round salmon in the middle. Then there is crunchy batter pieces on top of mayonnaise on top of the rol.. It does get messy tryingto dip the roll in the wasabi/soy sauce as it is so big, but it gets even more messier when you are trying to eat it.But that is part of the fun, tearing it apart. But I would give it 11/10!!!!!! superb!
Eel fried rice: Came in quite large bowl. With alot of eels, but compare to the unagi sushi, there was less unagi sauce. Was quite dry and tasted too much of the spring onion. was good for cheap price. i would say their sushi is better tho!
Environment tables are tightly packed together, and you need share tables unless in big group.Aircon is quite high, so bring a little jacket as it will get abit chilly. Wooden tables and wooden chairs.
Services: Services are getting bad since few years ago. They seem to emply very young people who probably dont understand what good services should be like. They dont smile and can hardly even hear them. They seem more like a robot. Bu the manager (I think he is) is bit more mature, and he has been around for quite a fewrs. He seems more sufficient and he acknowledges you than the others
OVERALL: I always crave to come back to this place, for their big sushi size, and because they do taste fresh and good. I have recommended so many people to come here and everyone seem to love this place. My first time here was 5 years ago, many sushi place have closed but this restaurant has been standing. They have had their ups and downs. N I have tasted when their quality of food have gone down. But it would still choose this sushi place than any other place I have tasted.
PS: there ALWAYS a huge queue, so be prepared to queue a long time, never come if you dnt have the patience. if you come at lunch then there shoulnt be any queue or come at 5.30 - 6pm.
