out of the three mains available that day, the “floating cloud oyakodon” ($118) was my favourite - homemade stir-fried salted koji chicken on a bed of bonito sauce fried rice, topped with a fluffy soufflé egg cloud and - the best part - a runny yolk in the middle, because there’s nothing more simple-yet-satisfying than runny egg yolk + rice 🍚🧡吾子主食编来了! 三个餐味道都颇为清淡,很有日式家庭料理的感觉。重口味的我觉得「月见浮云亲子丼」 ($118) 最合我口味 //3// 亲子丼是月见浮云焗流心蛋+自家制盐麹腌香煎鸡柳+鲣鱼汁炒饭!浓郁的蛋黄拌湿润的鲣鱼汁炒饭吃,十分满足 ᵕ·̮ᵕ 香煎鸡柳外焦里嫩,也很有肉质,饭里还混合了少量黑藜麦,感觉更健

the “cat’s slave’s ochazuke” ($118) is another popular choice! baked mackerel with english mustard yuzu sauce, served with rice and genmaicha dashi soup ∿ 🐟 I remember reading from @nggyn_ ’s post from a long time ago that they had spent a lot of time developing the perfect baked mackerel and finally decided on this english mustard and yuzu marinade + oven-baked cooking method to best present a unique flavour profile, while keeping the mackerel’s fattiness and fishiness under control. the result was a tender, almost juicy piece of fish with subtle notes of yuzu that pairs perfectly with the mild roasted aroma of genmaicha. although not very flavourful, it felt very nourishing and light, making for an apt summer meal. 🍃
lastly, the “nggy & veggie meal” ($108) is the vegetarian option on the menu 🌿 - two deep fried rice balls topped with their homemade jam with a side of wasabi salted seaweed and cucumber, curry soybean sprouts, salted shiso tamagoyaki and a veggie miso soup with glutinous rice cakes ∿ this “nggy all-day-breakfast” was again, very mild-tasting, but i was quite pleasantly surprised by the deep fried rice balls + jam combination! I never would’ve thought to eat rice with jam, but the fruity sweetness from it was the perfect little something to bring this “rice-croquette” to the next level. 🍙
