Afternoon tea is always girls best friend. Tiffany & Co had recently open their first ever restaurant in the world within the Hong Kong flagship store ! For savouries items it included the following:
- Caviar tartlet; egg mimosa with mayonnaise, chives and chilli powder
- Foie gras terrine; cherry jelly, crushed pistachio
-Ham & cheese cromesquis; white ham, mozzarella cheese
-Iberico ham; tomato salsa, basil cress toast
-Tuna Tartare tea sandwich; mascarpone, white bread
My favourite of course was their caviar tartlet. I love how the tart was filled with egg mayo, which was chopped finely ! Where as the foie gras terrine, it was a little too creamy and did not emphasized on the foie gras flavour.
For the iberico ham topped on the toast was okay, but the toast was thin and a little hard like cracker. But the overall taste was okay !
When it comes to afternoon tea, sandwiches are the least pleasing item of all, as normally the sandwiches are dry or soggy. But for this sandwich the bread was soft and not soggy and the filling was pretty flavourful with a little hint of cream cheese note. it was pretty good balanced !
For sweets items the following was included.
-Tiffany bird nest; marshmallow chocolate eggs
-Champagne pearls; white peach coulis, champagne jelly, white peach pearls
-Tiffany eclair; coffee cream
-Strawberry petite four; strawberry gateau, fresh strawberries and strawberry jelly coating.
-Rose gateau; rose and raspberry gateau, lychee jelly
Overall for my taste bud, I feel like the sweets here was a little too sweet for me. My best selection from the sweet item would be the rose gateau. It was not too sweet, since the milky exterior balanced off the sweet filling in the middle of the mousse cake texture and a thin cookie based.
Last but not least, is their scones and madeleines. No other places I had afternoon tea before serves cranberry scones, normally is only plain or raisin. For me this was not really a traditional scone, not because of the cranberry. It was super sweet, I feel like it was like a sweet cake instead of scone. But it is super rich in butter and its overall crunchy style instead of like flour texture. Don't have the expectation that it is a scone it is pretty delicious if you have a massive sweet tooth. When it comes to the Madeleine, it was average.
This following drink did not come a part of the afternoon tea, but its a very photogenic drink ! This cocktail called Tiffany Blue, is their signature item (HKD 128) made out of Vodka, elderflower sparkling blue cotton candy. Be prepared when you pour in the cocktail to the cotton candy... it will disappear super quickly, so get your camera ready ! When it comes to the taste, it is a super girly cocktail, its super sweet !
