Hong Kong University Alumni Association is one of my favourite dining areas in Central. The restaurant is located in an old commercial building. It is not easily found by outsiders and the decoration is a bit out-of-date, but the food there is highly recommended by friends and thus I booked this restaurant for a small gathering with my secondary schoolmates. I arrived on time at 7:30pm and am readily served with a table near the aisle. The services of the staff were good, they gave us some recommendations of the famous dishes. With so many well-known signature dishes, it is not difficult to pick mutually-interested dishes to order.
We started the dinner with the famous shrimp toast. The toast was not very hot but it’s still crispy, the sauce was tasty and went along well with the shrimp.
Second one was the apricot soup with pork lung. This is the most signature soup and everyone loves the strong aroma of apricot. It was smooth and creamy.
The main courses are the sweet and sour pork with pineapple and chicken pot with taro in coconut sauce. Both dishes were tasty but the portion were a bit small.
We hoped to try the famous rice in lotus leaf but found out it need to be ordered in advance. At last we ordered the sticky rice with Chinese sausage instead. It was unexpectedly good and not as sticky as we thought to be.
Overall, the food is delicious and the location is prime. I would like to bring along my family to go again.
