Eric Kayser occupied a competitive location at the Harbour City, with a sea view welcominig sunshine, and comparatively spacious seating. If it's put into comparison with its neighour restaurants, it could survive well with sound reason: appealing bakery, quality dishes, comfortable spaces among tables... you'd know what I mean when you have been to Pizza Express kind of opposite to it, really far too cramped and the seating means to tell you it's a fast-food restaurant that doesn't expect you to stay long - the staff even told you, though politely, you'd enjoy your meal within 2 hours and you'd be asked to vacate it then.. very ironic when it shall be originally set as a place for gathering with friends and sharing of large dishes like pizza and jazs of drinks. Slices of French bread in four flavours were served as starters: (slightly salty) plain, olive, tomato, and CURRY! The curry one is very remarkable as it's not spicy after all, but a strong smell of curry when it was still hot, gave me a very unexpected cheer! The soup that went with the lunch set I ordered was rich and creamy in flavor, well served for its quality with fun chewy feelings while drinking it. And finally, the main course: risotto with seafood.
The risotto was cheesy and creamy! This would be the strongest reason that puts this restaurant the highest priority for gathering with a small group of friends!
Sadly, the set menu goes without any hot drinks, only either coke or soda could be served for free. Order of any dessert would cost extra money but already, what were provided in the set was adequate for ladies' stomach.
When a friend of mine went with baby, we tried to ask for a baby seat but the staff failed to reply us politely. Yes, the seat could be limited and reserved.. but you could say, once available, we'd give it to you instead of letting it go. We asked for photo taking as it was rare we could meet a friend from overseas, but the staff there either appeared they were too busy to entertain you or responded they would come in minutes but never returned!
There could be a few staff members running around the resturant, but it seemed only one staff could be well functioning. Nobody really cared to usher you a desirable seating but keep telling you this and that had been reserved. Other than the sofa area, the seats were big bulky plastic chairs of light weight. Yet again, tables were nicely spaced.
There's just one special dish we all ordered. Would see if I'd manage to give more comments on other food served here.
Wish its service could be improved.. really sucks!
