Next Door Cafe & Bar is a place I was curious to try. But the few times that I did, it was always full during lunch time. But this time I went early and got a seat (though it was facing a wall). The reason I was curious to try is that it's run by the restaurant Town which is one of my favorite lunch places. A bit pricey for lunch but I've never been disappointed with whatever I've ordered there. Next Door Cafe & Bar is a more casual concept. More of a cafe with casual food for a lower price. It'
It's located in Lee Garden Three inside the Bo Concept furniture store.
During lunch time, they have a lunch set menu only. Lunch set includes a soup or salad and a main. Menu in English only.
They also have a la carte drinks.
I decided on the salad. You can create your own by choosing up to three choices. I chose the roasted eggplant and cous cous, zucchini and smoked mozzarella and smoked duck breast and cauliflower. But when it arrived, I didn't get any zucchini and mozzarella. Instead I was given red quinoa and broccoli. There also appeared to be beetroot and feta. I didn't say anything as I was fine with it. But aside from that, the salad was great. Colorful and a good balance of flavors. Each item was great.
My main was the Hokkaido scallop chitarra with garlic white wine sauce ($198). Again a colorful plate was presented in front of me. The chitarra pasta was al dente. It was tossed with a very light sauce and mixed with sweet cherry tomatoes. This was topped with crunchy purple sweet potato strips. There were a total of five scallops that were perfectly cooked.
Service was good and even changed the eating utensils after I was finished my salad. I know it sounds silly but unless you are paying a lot of money for lunch, this really doesn't happen. Food was delicious and looked beautiful, too. Portion size was a bit small though. And I think for this price, they could have thrown in a drink to be more competitive with other places that are charging for lunch at the same price range. But despite that, I'll be back.
