It was a chilly and wet evening, and my mood was bad enough. Walking past this Pret branch inside Admiralty MTR station, I thought it was a good idea to eat something to warm & cheer myself up. What's better than a bowl of hot soup? The soup of the day was Leek & Potato Soup ($30). Pret's soups are 'main course' which can make a meal on its own. The soup of the day was Leek & Potato Soup ($30). Pret's soups are 'main course' which can make a meal on its own. The price tag was actually pretty steep given that it was just churned out of that big warmer pan into a paper bowl, but I never regretted after I'd tasted it. It was piping hot, and that rich, melt-in-your-mouth creaminess was simply gratifying. The soup was speckled with bits of potato, leek, celery and onion and so it was both tasty and nutritious, and suitable for vegetarians (not vegans though).
As it was nearing the end of the day, the two severs, Norma and Rose, were starting to do some tidying up while I looked on and enjoyed my soup. Norma came to ask me if I wanted anything else, but before I answered she already cheerfully offered me a Soup Baguette ($6) to go with my soup! So now I had a complete meal haha...the bright smiles of Norma and Rose were even more heartwarming than the baguette itself.
The management at Pret a Manger should be proud of their staff, who are not only passionate about food, but also passionate about their job!
