Wanted to have a quick lunch before the rush hour set in, so I thought I would give this a try as I have passed by this restaurant many a time and was always noted to be full.

The set lunch menu had 4 items on it, and I went for the laksa. With a small price to add, I also opted for a couple of chicken wings. The lunch set also included a hot drink and some dessert.

The chicken wings were similar to those found in other localised Vietnamese restaurant - deep fried with garlic. The only taste I could find was that of garlic, the chicken wings themselves were devoid of any taste whatsoever, and quite chewy as well.

The laksa was a water-downed version of the Malaysian variety. Made with vermicelli with some tofu, the soup was slightly spicy with four prawns in it. No, the soup didn't have any prawn flavour in it, and the prawns didn't have any curry flavour in them. They were put there as an afterthought. Worse still, the prawns, even though biggish, were not fresh with the heads all dangling and the meat rendered texture-less after prolonged freezing.

Despite the quality of the food, a queue was starting to form and I didn't even bother to try out the complimentary dessert.

May be I shouldn't have expected more but then, but this restaurant has really left me much to desire.
