From the outside, the restaurant could almost pass for a local diner, but a few touches such as the beautiful lamps and drapery adds a touch of India to the place. The poppadums and onion bahji were served with a very green mint sauce and a sweet tamarind chutney. The bahji had nice batter but was a bit oily. The poppadoms were soggy, and probably made earlier in the day (and hopefully not longer). Another giveaway was the garlic on the naan bread which were dry and did not give out its expected aroma, so despite having a clay oven to produce fresh naan, it was slightly ruined by the topping
But aside from this, the rest of the food lived up to expectation. The chicken pakodas had a batter with coriander that went well with the meat. The lamb and oxtail were both done well, the meat was tender and the sauce flavoursome. The eggplant was surprisingly not oily and was a good vegetarian option. The clay oven churned out good naan bread that is worth returning for.
